Real Gnathosaurus were small pterosaurs that lived in Germany during the Late Jurassic period, with wingspans 1.7 metres long and unique spoon-shaped jaws that were probably used to catch its prey, likely insects and fish. Unlike Blink, real Gnathosaurus probably walked on four legs, not two. When pieces of this pterosaur's skull were first discovered by scientists in 1832, they were mistaken for the jaw of a small crocodile! The name Gnathosaurus means "jaw lizard".
