Henry Gover (c.1835 - 25 March 1895) was a solicitor and educationist. The youngest son of William Gover of Lee Park, Blackheath, and brother of William Sutton Gover. He became a solicitor and in 1871 he was elected to Common Council of the City of London to represent Bridge Within Ward.

  • Henry Gover (c.1835 - 25 March 1895) was a solicitor and educationist. The youngest son of William Gover of Lee Park, Blackheath, and brother of William Sutton Gover. He became a solicitor and in 1871 he was elected to Common Council of the City of London to represent Bridge Within Ward. A prominent member of the Methodist Church, he was elected to the London School Board at a by-election to fill a casual vacancy in the representation of Greenwich. He held the seat at eight subsequent elections, and was the "father" of the school board when he died, aged 60, at his residence "Lyncombe", Sydenham Hill.
