| - The War Against Piracy was an act attempted and carried out by Lord Cutler Beckett and the East India Trading Company, aided by the British Royal Navy, to wipe out piracy from the world. The Company's purpose for the war was to expand their business into the Caribbean as well as exterminating pirates. Beckett was able to achieve this plan by finding the fabled Dead Man's Chest, in which lied the heart of Davy Jones, to control the seas. The war led to a near complete wipe-out of all pirates in the world, which led the Brethren Court to convene, in which Elizabeth Swann was voted as the new Pirate King. The final battle raged outside of Shipwreck Island, between the Brethren's fleet, led by the Black Pearl; and Beckett's armada, led by the Flying Dutchman and the HMS Endeavour. The battle resulted in the deaths of Ian Mercer, Davy Jones, and Cutler Beckett himself. Will Turner was killed in the battle by Davy Jones, but was ultimately resurrected when Jack Sparrow aided Turner in stabbing Jones' heart, prompting Turner to be the new captain of the Flying Dutchman.
