The Jan Mayen War was a small battle fought between small flotillas of the American and English Navies after the Fifth World War. A lack of communication between the flotillas and the home nations led the fleet to remain under the impression that the war was not over. At 05:23 AM on December 22, 1949, American Commodore Richard Morgan along the coast of Greenland spotted a collection of English ships flocking near Jan Mayen Island. Morgan's flotilla proceeded to the island, where a firefight commenced. The English were eventually forced to retreat, and the Americans collected resources at the island, which aided them to return to Iceland. The Jan Mayen War is regarded to be the final conflict of World War V.
