Stephen Seaward Tayler (6 September 1824 - 29 October 1909) was an engineer and local politician in south London. Born at Kennington, in the parish of Lambeth, Tayler was one of the committee of proprietors of Battersea Bridge in 1864 when it was sold to the Albert Bridge Company. He died at his home in Streatham aged 85 and was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium.

  • Stephen Seaward Tayler (6 September 1824 - 29 October 1909) was an engineer and local politician in south London. Born at Kennington, in the parish of Lambeth, Tayler was one of the committee of proprietors of Battersea Bridge in 1864 when it was sold to the Albert Bridge Company. In 1889 he became an alderman on the newly-created London County Council. He was a member of the majority Progressive Party on the council, allied with the parliamentary Liberal Party. When the second Council elections were held in 1892 he was elected as a councillor representing Lambeth, Brixton. He stood down from the council at the 1895 elections. He died at his home in Streatham aged 85 and was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium.
