Operation Giant-Killer was a plan by members of the Soviet Union's government to assassinate the progressive General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev by feeding him poisoned jelly beans in 1986. Unfortunately for the conspirators, Giant-Killer's security was breached by both Gary Seven and Khan Noonien Singh, leading them to capture KGB Colonel Anastasia Komananov who was carrying plans for the operation. Seven then sent word of the plan to Roberta Lincoln, who was acting as Gorbachev's interpreter at his meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland with Ronald Reagan. While there she was able to discover that jelly beans intended as a gift from Reagan to Gorbachev had been poisoned by spies and she was able to stop the Soviet leader from eating them, foiling Operation Giant-Killer.
