Alana Waterman was a lobbyist and lawyer. In her first appearance, following a rally for Sam Seaborn's run for Congress in the California 47th, it is revealed that Waterman had publicly embarrassed First Lady Abbey Bartlet regarding fair pay legislation by writing a newspaper op-ed piece. The First Lady presses Amy Gardner into service to run interference on Waterman so she won't have to talk to her.
