From the Choirgirl Hotel is the fourth solo studio album by American singer-songwriter Tori Amos. It was released on May 4, 1998 in the United Kingdom by East West Records and on May 5, 1998 by Atlantic Records in the United States. The album was largely inspired by a miscarriage Amos experienced in December 1996 and her engagement to partner Mark Hawley in early 1997. From the Choirgirl Hotel marked the first time Amos recorded with a full band, including drummer Matt Chamberlain and longtime guitarist Steve Caton.
