He was born to a farming family in Westfall, and spent the early years of his life locally. Eventually, his family was forced out of the territory and into Stormwind proper after the death of his father in what seemed to be an accidental fall. While Moshe became a petty thief, Ruarc devoted himself to study at the cathedral at his mother's urging. Being much more inclined to the sword than pen, he natually fell in as a paladin, fighting for the Stormwind and the Alliance.

Once Tul’gais decided it was time for Ruarc to finish the part of his tutelage that required him to stay near his master, he drugged the young orc. Ruarc awoke in a cart in south Durotar near the entrance to the Valley of Trials. There, he would begin his next phase of learning that would prepare him for his journeys to come.
