The Voth Ministry of Elders dispatched the sanctioner to show flag in the Vostigye system. When Haluk demanded the crew of USS Voyager turned over, the Vostigye and their allies assembled a fleet to defend the Voyager crew. The fleet was no match for the advanced starship. Haluk's city ship vaporized Nezu starships with the first shots and hit Ridion starships with their own plasma torpedoes, causing them to blow up. Tarkan and Porcion, and Vostigye ships fired on the invader.

Tarkan and Porcion, and Vostigye ships fired on the invader. The city ship's transwarp signature attracted a trio of Scourge bioships, which attacked the city ship. Voyager and its allies moved to defend the city ship while its crew evacuated to the habitat spheres around the Birthworld. Escape pods were launched before Haluk engaged his ship's self-destruct mechanism. The valorous action of the allies paved the way for the founding of the Delta Coalition in February 2375 and the opening of diplomatic relations with the Voth.
