Since December 1992, he has been married to Tamara, who also appeared as a background actress on several Enterprise episodes. Beside his work on Star Trek, Hambly appeared as a Human stunt slave in the 2001 science fiction remake Planet of the Apes, which featured David Warner, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Eileen Weisinger, Erick Avari, and Kevin Grevioux. Other film appearances include the comedy Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003, with Robert Picardo, Dick Miller, George Murdock, Ron Perlman, and Frank Welker), the comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004, with Holmes Osborne) and its sequel Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie (2004, also with Osborne and with Stephen Root), and the comedy The Untitled Onion Movie (2008, with Daniel Dae Kim, Len Cariou, Tom Wright, Don McManus, and Scott Klace).
