While officially the succession of the Confederate State of Tennessee from the United States was a peaceful one, it wasn't totally free of violence. From the beginning of the succession, military and police forces of Tennessee have been engaged by pro-American domestic terrorist groups. Most of the resistance began after the United States formally agreed to allow the succession. While the majority of groups operating in Tennessee are anti-CST, they are not necessarily pro-American. The goals of the groups range from adding Tennessee back to the union, to overturning the CST government, to resisting both nation's governments. Many of the groups now opposing the CST government were originally some of the same groups that pressed the government to take action against the same-sex marriage ban

| - While officially the succession of the Confederate State of Tennessee from the United States was a peaceful one, it wasn't totally free of violence. Many of the groups now opposing the CST government were originally some of the same groups that pressed the government to take action against the same-sex marriage ban. After the rumors of Tennessee leaving the union became widespread, groups with pro-American sentiments found themselves engaging CST troops. Some groups, mostly near Clarksville, were created to oppose the ceding of Montgomery county to Kentucky and fought against American forces. These groups are defined as domestic terrorists because they have engaged or attempted to engage either Tennessean or American forces using lethal weaponry.
