At around 7:09 P.M., a small cone tornado touched down 5 miles SSE of Ava. The tornado strengthened rapidly. It started to sweep away very-well built homes near Ava and within the city limits. The tornado started to take a north-westward turn towards Ava. The tornado struck the south side of the city. One whole apartment complex was destroyed with 295 mph, being just below the 2013 El Reno Tornado and the 1999 Bridge Creek-Moore Twister.
