The Inmate was an unnamed fellow prisoner of Tony Gordon in Highfield Prison. Tony provoked a fight in the dining room with the inmate by staring at him and, when challenged, stated he was looking at his, "gorgeous, blue eyes" and blew him a kiss. The inmate instantly and viscously attacked him. Tony feigned a heart attack after the fight, but this was a scam to get taken to Weatherfield General. En-route, his armed henchman Robbie Sloane followed the ambulance and engineered a crash. Upon releasing Tony, he ordered the driver and accompanying prison officer inside the back of the vehicle where they were promptly locked in. Tony was then free to return to Coronation Street and exact his revenge upon his wife Carla Connor.
