The 2008 Los Angeles earthquake occurred in southern California on July 29, 2008. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) the magnitude 5.4 earthquake had an epicenter near the Chino Hills area east of Highway 142, about 30 miles east of Los Angeles, at about 11:42am PDT (18:42 UTC), lasting about one minute. Preliminary reports show no deaths or damage. The quake was reportedly felt as far as San Diego, and Las Vegas. Many buildings and tourist attractions like Disney Land have been evacuated for fear of aftershocks.
