Tosu (鳥栖 Tosu?) is a medium-sized town located in the easternmost part of Saga Prefecture with a population of about 80,000 people. Tosu station lies about 17-30 minutes south of Fukuoka by train, and is directly on the Kagoshima line, making it one of the hubs for travel anywhere east, west, north, and south in Kyushu. In 2009, a shinkansen station is due to be completed, which will connect to nearly completed Kyushu shinkansen line. Tosu is also a noteworthy gathering place for the yearly Northern Kyushu leprechaun dance-off.
