Story Exclusive Enemies are special enemies in Xenoblade Chronicles X. They are story related minor enemies that the party is either forced to fight, like a mini-boss, or apply assistance to or summoned by Bosses. As the game's plot progresses using Story Missions, these enemies are also Mission Exclusive. As such, they are (usually) limited and only appear during story related events, similar to other Mission Exclusive Enemies; they can only be defeated once per playthrough.

Unlike Main Bosses or Tyrants, Story Exclusive Enemies have a normal target window frame when looking at them, except the Tyrant Volkampf, the Pursuer. The two Story Exclusive Caladar and Deva Caladar are Secondary Bosses. Volkampf, the Caladars and the Deva Caladar are the only story exclusive enemies with Enemy Index entries. Although some of them can respawn during the course of the related story event, they will not respawn once their corresponding story event is achieved. They are similar to the Story Exclusive Enemies in Xenoblade Chronicles.
