The Sage of the Six Paths is regarded as the father of ninjutsu and is revered as a god amongst shinobi. He became the first jinchuriki after he sealed the Ten-Tailed beast within himself. Towards the end of his life and fearing the threat the Ten-Tails would pose to the world, he split the Ten-Tails into nine tailed beasts and sealed the beast's body/vessel into a celestial body that would become known as the Moon. The Sage had two sons who would become the forefathers of two prominent clans in the series: the Uchiha, and the Senju.
