Although the crew's origins are undefined, it was made evident that Sakura formed the crew for the sole purpose of becoming a pirate, believing that it would allow her to travel endlessly around the world as she sought out the strength necessary to accomplish her goal in life. After coming across The Jolly Pirates however, and after a misadventure in a Marine stronghold in East Blue, Sakura hesitantly agreed to join The Jolly Pirates as their swordsman, thus resigning as captain of The Storm Pirates. After Sakura's departure, the fate of The Storm Pirates has become ambiguous, though it appears that they're still active and well; as seen when they received Sakura's newest bounty after the incident at G-6, expressing joy and relief that their former captain was doing well, as well as making quite a name for herself in the process. This shows that The Storm Pirates seem to have no grudge over Sakura's resignation, and have instead come to terms with it. Furthermore, they seem to still show unwavering loyalty to Sakura, despite the fact that she now sails under a different flag.
