The decoy is deployed from the ship from a specialised one-shot railgun launcher. When it is a safe distance (approx. 500 kilometres) from the ship, it activates, using systems derived from the BLINDER and SPARTOI countermeasures found in the REM-225 Eris electronic warfare drone, jamming guidance systems and creating a sudden multiplication of targets to throw incoming ordnance off course, as well as emitting of high-powered thermal and radar signatures to create the impression of a much larger warship, drawing targets on to itself. A miniturised hafnium-based fusion reactor aboard the decoy powers the systems, and also has the secondary advantage of emitting enough heat to appear to be an actual warship. It is part of a layered system of defences which incorporates countermissiles, decoy

It is part of a layered system of defences which incorporates countermissiles, decoys, point-defence systems, and shielding.
