  • The Dorvain General Election, 1834 was held on the 27th May 1834 to elect the Tenth Parliament of the Commonwealth of Dorvain. Each of the 125 parliamentary constituencies elected one Member of Parliament to Parliament. The election was contentious, but Clegg's Democrats managed to win a third consecutive victory, albeit with a mere seat over the Royalists. Clegg remained somewhat popular through his reforms and pragmatism, but Cameron's Royalists gained more momentum than the party had done in a while, promising liberalization of some of the reforms Clegg had made in the past. Clegg had begun to grow weary of leading the government and wished to find a successor, however knowing he was the only person who could lead his party to victory, he was convinced to stay on and seek a third term. This was to be the last general election held under the rein of Arnold III, who died in 1836.
