Half-breeds on Arkania are not viewed with much reverence, her stepfather knew this and always considered her a blight on the reputation of his household. The weight of the ridicule from his colleagues wore him to intoxication and gambling. So much so that inevitably he waged more than he could finance against a gem mine foreman. The decision to offload the girl against his over investment, was cold, quick and easy. It was also the last and only memory she would ever manage to retain of family.

  • Half-breeds on Arkania are not viewed with much reverence, her stepfather knew this and always considered her a blight on the reputation of his household. Banished to the mines, her new owner quickly dubbed her "Pey", in reference to the payment she stood for, and he set her to work running errands amongst the mines. As she grew older and stronger, her tasks became more complex, manual labor and engineering soon replaced the simple errands of before, but even in the mines, her less than pure genetics made her the target of abuse, many miners calling her "Khar' Isso", which roughly translated as 'Leech' in reference to the theft of blood, or attempting acts of physical violence. She soon learned not to leave her quarters without a plasma blade. Over time, the foreman and the mines science officers experimented with her physiology for cybernetic worker enhancements. Granting her expanded strength for manual labor and machinery interfacing, so she may be able to keep up in a male orientated environment with the increasing demand for production. Pey spent almost two decades in the frozen mines, hidden from the pure Arkanians on the surface, before the foreman eventually stood down and released her from service. Having no experience of the surface or will to associate with the pure Arkanians, she boarded a trading vessel in the search for a place in a society where she could make sense of her own existence.
