- Marvel Zombies refers to not just an organization of evil-doers but the populace of an entire alternate reality filled with zombified versions of both heroes and villains from the mainstream Marvel universe, the series became infamous due to its dark twists and the way it warped popular characters into gruesome killing machines - it also contains events and scenarios that would be considered completely at odds with the "real" Marvel universe. A series of Marvel comics involving a viral zombie outbreak spreading in the Marvel universe, infecting the franchise's well-known superheroes who devour most the the Earth's population. This version of the Marvel universe is established as being seperate from the other Marvel universes, with the zombie superheroes devising ways to infect those universes as well. History:
- The undead Sentry arrived in New York and immediately attacked the Avengers who were on the scene, infecting them and turning them into horrific zombie-like creatures who hungered for living flesh. Unlike typical zombie types, the Marvel zombies are not reduced to shambling, mindless animals. They completely retain their intelligence and many of their powers, but they physically decay and their minds are twisted by the Hunger, compromising their powers of reason. They still retain all their memories but no longer regard friends and loved ones with the same familiarity they once did, seeing them only as meat to be devoured. The Hunger seems to choose beings with powers to be its hosts, whereas unpowered humans are usually eaten completely before infection can take hold.
- Marvel Zombies in a nutshell - an alien virus carried into an Elseworlds version of the Marvel Comics universe by a zombified Sentry has transformed the Marvel superheroes and supervillains into cannibalistic zombies who, by the time we're introduced to them, have already consumed every living thing on their own Earth (in twenty four hours, no less) and so are desperately searching for a new source of food so as to quell the vicious, all-consuming hunger that they feel. The Marvel Zombies franchise following this Arc consists of:
