Hurricane Bret of 2017 was an early season major hurricane that tore through much of the Greater Antilles before hitting Florida at peak intensity as a 120mph category 3 hurricane, doing heavy damage to areas near the Florida Keys as a result, before it emerged into the Atlantic Ocean, where it began its extratropical transition, hitting Bermuda as a strong tropical storm before doing so. From its origins as a tropical wave off the coast of Africa to its death near Nova Scotia as an eaxtratropical cyclone, Bret led to 12 deaths, 44 injuries, and left 2 people missing in addition. Total damages form Bret reached $385 million in total, limited due to the fast pace of the hurricane during its lifecycle.
