  • Capricorn Pirates * Cool Boat: The Hyperion. * Culture Chop Suey: The Capricorns are of various ethnicities, from Japanese to Irish to Chinese to American to even Portuguese. * True Companions Yuki-Rin * Action Girl * Brainy Brunette * Brown Eyes * Cool Big Sis: To Molly * Deadpan Snarker: Has tones of this. * First-Name Basis: Yuki-Rin drops her last name after her crew arrives in the Grand Line. * Genki Girl * The Hero * Hundred-Percent Heroism Rating: Yuki-Rin is the most popular female character of the readers. * Katanas Are Just Better: Yuki-Rin's weapon of choice is a katana. * Leitmotif: Drunken Lullabies by Flogging Molly. * The Runaway: Ran away from home with Molly to become a pirate. * Runaway Fiance * Secretly Wealthy * Tomboy * Tomboy and Girly Girl: The tomboy to Aki's girly girl. She is also the tomboy to Molly's girly girl. Molly O'Flannigan * Action Girl * Bob Haircut * Blue Eyes * Break the Cutie * Broken Bird: The Tenryuubito burned down Molly's home and killed her birth parents before they forced her into Yuki-Rin's family against her own will. * Leitmotif: Siobahn by The Tossers. * Moe * Oireland: Molly came from an Oireland-type place before she was forced into Yuki-Rin's family against her own will. * Perky Goth * The Quincy Punk * The Runaway: Ran away with Yuki-Rin to become a pirate. * Tomboy and Girly Girl: The girly-girl to Yuki-Rin's tomboy. While Molly sometimes wears punk and goth-inspired dresses and is more of The Stoic, Yuki-Rin never wears dresses and is more of a Genki Girl. * Woman in Black: Molly commonly wears black outfits. Hatori Chidori * Adorkable * Ahoge: Has one on top of his head. * Butt Monkey: Usually seen getting the short end of the stick. We've also never seen Hatori fight, as of yet. * Cordon Bleugh Chef * Leitmotif: Sailing Day by Bump of Chicken. * Meganekko * Only Sane Man: Was the only member of the Capricorn Pirates not involved in the battle against Big Margo at the end of the Baleeria Porto Arc. * You Gotta Have Blue Hair Heathcliffe Sarutobi * Abusive Parents: His parents kicked him out of the house for refusing to conform to Tenryuubito society. It's probably a contributing reason as to why Heathcliffe is a Broken Bird. * Bishounen * Broken Bird: He was shunned by the World Nobles and their families for not acting like them. It is really driven home when Heathcliffe's family - thinking he died - put him in a coffin and sent him to sea when he was asleep. Heathcliffe then had to play his guitar on the streets for money and live alone in filthy, unsafe tenement housings for a year, until Yuki-Rin found Heathcliffe - who was filthy, lice-infested, starving, and begging on the streets - and took him into the crew * Ensemble Darkhorse: Heathcliffe is quite popular among readers of the fanfic. * Mr. Fanservice * Hundred-Percent Heroism Rating: Mr. Fanservice helped a lot in this. The authoress of the fic even Lampshades this my mentioning "Heathcliffe fangirls", "Heathcliffe's fangirls", and other variations on those two terms. * Leitmotif: Build God, Then We'll Talk by Panic! at the Disco. * Lonely Rich Kid: A major part of his backstory. Grew up as one of the three sons of Saint Sarutobi, a World Noble. He only had his two brothers, Holden and Soren, to hang out with since the commoner kids shunned Heathcliffe for being a Noble's son and the kids of Nobles shunned him for not conforming to Noble society. Then, it got Invoked hard and Heathcliffe was kicked out of his home and forced to live in filth and poverty for a year, living through hunger, lack of a proper shower, lice, and death. Fortunately, things turn around for Heathcliffe and he's got some good friends (and his brothers and his girlfriend) backing him up. * Perky Goth * The Quincy Punk * Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Heathcliffe is the sensitive man to Kazuma's manly man. While Kazuma is a Hot-Blooded boy who lives by a man's code of honor, Heathcliffe is somewhat of a Sharp-Dressed Man at times and has a loving relationship with Aki. * Sinister Scythe: Uses a scythe that will sometimes contain the ghost of Isabella Sarutobi, his deceased grandma. * Street Urchin: Was one for a year until he joined the Capricorn Pirates. * Sweet Polly Oliver: Does one in the Tequila Wolf Arc to disguise himself from his own father. Isabella Sarutobi * Deadpan Snarker: Gets in her fair share of deadpan commentary at least once per arc. * Demonic Possession: Is capable of doing this. * Leitmotif: Sleep, Isabella by Abney Park. * Our Ghosts Are Different: Isabella knows some special attacks, which makes her a good battling partner with Heathcliffe. * Really Seven Hundred Years Old: It Makes Sense in Context, since Isabella is a ghost. * Snark Knight: See Deadpan Snarker. * Woman in White * You've Gotta Have Pink Hair Kazuma Miyafuji * Bishounen * Blue Eyes * Broken Bird: His house and the family dojo burns down and his dad gets serious injuries from the fire a week before the story begins. * Butt Monkey: At times. * Cannot Spit It Out: During the Ginling Island Arc with Yuki-Rin. He DOES spit it out and tell Yuki-Rin that he loves her at the end of the arc. * Dreadlock Rasta * Mr. Fanservice: See Fan Service. * Fan Service: Kazuma is a fanservice magnet, with his Bishounen good looks, constant Shirtless Scenes, and penchant for wearing yukatas. * Gratuitous Japanese: Most of his attack names. * Hair of Gold * Heir to the Dojo: Before his house and family dojo burns down. * Hot-Blooded * Katanas Are Just Better: Uses a nodachi (an elongated katana) as a weapon. * Kimono Fanservice: Wears yukatas from time to time. Doesn't help that he's Mr. Fanservice. * Leitmotif: Jap, the opening theme to Sengoku Basara. * Raised by Dudes: Kazuma's mother walked out on the family when he was little, leaving his dad to raise him. * Rated "M" for Manly: One of his most prominent traits. * Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Defintely the manly man to Heathcliffe's sensitive guy. * Shirtless Scene: In almost every arc, it is either outright stated or implied that Kazuma is shirtless for at least a portion of the arc. * Shonen Protagonist: Acts like a sterotypical Shonen protagonist, even though Yuki-Rin is the viewpoint character. Kartik Abingdon * The Archer: Uses a bow with arrows as a weapon. * Bishounen * Cultured Badass * Leitmotif: Word of God states that it's either Yours to Command by Rupesh Cartel or Echoes on 'A' Street by Dropkick Murphys. * Meganekko * Men Are Uncultured: Averted. While Kartik does enjoy fine literature, the opera, and the theater, we do see him in fight in very important fights, such as the fight against Kaoru and Mina. * Sharp-Dressed Man * Team Dad * UST: Implied to have UST with Matsu. * What Could Have Been: Kartik was originally going to be part cyborg. * You Gotta Have Purple Hair Matsu Takeshima * Brainy Brunette * The Cutie: The opposite to Karin's sexiness * Girl Next Door * Leitmotif: Don't Give Up (You Are Loved) by Josh Groban. * Missing Mom: Her mother dies two years before the story begins while trying to protect the family yacht during a bad storm. * Ojou: Has the personality, clothes, and wealth of one. * Unlucky Childhood Friend: She's grown up with Kartik all of her life, and she constantly wonders why Kartik won't take their relationship further. Plus, there's also Karin competing for Kartik's attention. * UST: Implied to have UST with Kartik. Karin Kotetsu * Absolute Cleavage * Bare Your Midriff: In some arcs. * Expy: Of Rangiku, but with stalking tendencies. * Leitmotif: Word of God states that it's either Milkshake by Kelis or Bad Romance by Lady Gaga. * Little Black Dress: Wears one as her assassin outfit. * Meganekko * Ms. Fanservice: Oh, so very much. * Show Some Leg * Stalker with a Crush: Has a very obvious crush on Kartik, who doesn't even approve of it. * Yandere: Karin is a mild version of this toward Kartik. Z.G. * Cloudcuckoolander: Acts like a mild version of this. * Nice Hat: Wears a black hat as part of his assassin outfit. * Leitmotif: Yakusoku, which is the opening theme to Senkou no Night Raid. * Long-Haired Pretty Boy * Mistaken for Pedophile: Confirmed via Word of God. * Only One Name * Red Eyes, Take Warning * White-Haired Pretty Boy "Blind" Drusilla * Bob Haircut * Broken Bird: Was blinded by her father, who committed suicide shortly after she was blinded. * Creepy Child * Disability Superpower: Drusilla may be blind, but she can make people relive their bad moments and she was an assassin for Cipher Pol before she, Karin, and Z.G. got fired and joined Yuki-Rin's crew. * Elegant Gothic Lolita: Dresses as one. * Hair of Gold * Leitmotif: U.N. Owen Was Her by IOSYS. * Little Black Dress: Wears a gothic-styled one as part of her assassination outfit. * Token Mini-Moe Maki-chan * Blue Eyes * Broken Bird: Was forced to become a pop star all because her Noble mother wanted power. * Genki Girl * Girlish Pigtails * Hair of Gold * Hidden Depths * Leitmotif: Believe, one of the openings to One Piece. * Put on a Bus: When was the last time Maki-chan spoke more than a brief sentence? * Becomes averted by the beginning of the Project Mei Arc. Hana Yakushi * Amber Eyes * Beware the Nice Ones: Do not get Hana angry if you value your life. * Cute Bruiser * Girl Next Door * Leitmotif: Word of God states that it's either Money Honey by Lady Gaga or Coward Montblanc by Gumi. * Only Sane Man: Is usually seen as one of the more saner people of the Capricorn Pirates. * Simple Staff: Wields one as part of her weapon. * Yaoi Fangirl Aria Yakushi * Badass * Blue Eyes * Cool Big Sis: To Hana * Girlish Pigtails: They're also in braids. It's also worth mentioning that Aria is eighteen-yea old Revolutionary who wears said braided pigtails. * La RĂ©sistance: Leads a sucessful one during the Tequila Wolf Arc. * Leitmotif: Bookmark-A-Head from Strike Witches. * Zettai Ryouiki: Some of her outfits. The first time occurs when he time travels with Apple and is forced to see Yulia killing his grandma in front of his eyes again. The second one occurs later on when Yulia almost dies at the hands of the Arc Villain. * Idiot Hero * Knife Nut * Leitmotif: Ain't no Rest for the Wicked by Cage the Elephant. * Sex Slave: Was nearly forced to become one during the Triad Arc. Thankfully, he escapes from the Dragon Lady's brothel before anything bad happens to him. * Stepford Smiler: Played brutally straight, because Daisuke had to witness his Vitriolic Best Bud, Yulia, kill his grandmother because she was Brainwashed and Crazy when it happened. It's also implied that Daisuke's grandma was either the only relative he had or that his grandma was his last known living relative before her death. * Street Urchin: Implied to be one before joining the Capricorn Pirates. * Vitriolic Best Buds: With Yulia * You've Gotta Have Green Hair Sebastian Hozuki * Ambiguously Brown * Broken Bird: He saw his mother get stabbed to death by pirates in front of his very own eyes * Dojikko * Heroic Blue Screen of Death: Gets one toward the end of the Restaurant Row Arc when his dad is almost forced to work at Sun-Ni's Noodle Shop. First, her mother dies leaving her an orphan, then she becomes Kaoru and Mina's captive until their Heel Face Turn, then she is a captive again, but, this time by the Baba Yaga, and, then, she had to face her evil aunt and prepare for possibly leaving the crew because of her Arranged Marriage to Gareth, which never happened. * Broken Bird: Her mother passed away shortly before she and Showtarou ended up with the Capricorn Pirates. * Distressed Damsel: In the Ghost Ship, Baba Yaga, and Noblesse Oblige Arcs. * Hidden Depths * The Ingenue * I Will Wait for You: Does this in the Noblesse Oblige Arc when she is taken away for her Arranged Marriage to Gareth and Heathcliffe vows to return her to the Capricorn Pirates. * Kimono Fanservice: Wears a short, white kimono while she is the captive of the Baba Yaga. * Lady in Red: Wears a red Qipao for her first appearance. * Lady of War * Long Hair Is Feminine: Aki considers her hair to be her best feature. * Ojou * Qipao: Wears a qipao or a qipao blouse with pants or a skirt as her usual clothing. * Tomboy and Girly Girl: The girly girl to Yuki-Rin's tomboy. * Yamato Nadeshiko Kaoru Kimura * The Atoner: Becomes one after his Heel Face Turn. * Heel Face Turn: Undergoes one at the end of the Ghost Ship Arc. * Man in White: For his first appearance. * Our Vampires Are Different: Kaoru ate the Vampir Vampir no mi, which turns him into a vampire on the night of the full moon, or when he has to activate his powers. * Red Eyes, Take Warning: Becomes averted after his Heel Face Turn. * Victorian Britain: Dresses like he is from this time period. * White-Haired Pretty Boy Mina Nishikori * The Atoner: Becomes one after her Heel Face Turn * Brainy Brunette * Brown Eyes * Femme Fatale: Until she are Kaoru are defeated and they join the Capricorn Pirates. * Heel Face Turn: Undergoes one at the end of the Ghost Ship Arc. * Lady in Red: Wears a red, Pimped-Out Dress for her first appearance. * Our Vampires Are Different: Mina's under the affects of Kaoru's Devil Fruit. * Pimped-Out Dress: Wears one in her first appearance. * Spirited Young Lady * Victorian Britain: Dress like she is from this time period.
