The Party has been one of the most dominant in the history of Cornwall, being in power alone with a majority from 1969 to 1984, and then in 1984 as the senior partner in a coalition with Liberal Future. The Party continued to stay in power in the Cornwall Council elections, 1989 and Cornwall Council elections, 1994 in a surprising coalition with the Cornish Progressive Party each time as the junior partner though. This led to two records, the longest uninterrupted run as a government without a coalition for 15 years (1969-1984) and then longest streak for just being in power which was for 30 years (1969-1999).
