The Caracas Incident is the name for the disaster that happened in Venezuela that cut the world's oil supply in roughly a third. On December 21, 2012, a small meteorite hit Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. This caused the country's oil supply (a significant supply especially for the United States, who bought from these supplies to get cheaper prices) to be destroyed as well.
