The origins of Elddis Transport stretch back to the 19th Century when Thomas Cook of ? purchased his first horse and cart in 1881. After the death of Thomas Cook in 1942 his son Siddle took over the majority of the business and created Siddle C. Cook Limited. This grew to be one of the largest privately owned heavy haulage companies in the country before it was sold to the shipping company Tayforth in 1964.
