- G.U.N. was initially part of a Third Development (3D) movement in the Station Square Zone soon after Doctor Robotnik was overthrown. Their idea was that Mobius shouldn’t be made up of Zone but of “nations”, which would be like one large Zone containing several little Zones. The nations would be in united federations, and presidents would be voted for each. Unfortunately, no one liked the idea. The initiative was conceived by several Zone Leaders and local police chiefs as a response to the idea that either Robotnik or a similar figure may one day wage war on Mobius again. The Member-Zones would unite their departments of law enforcement to fight mutual threats, but only upon being voted in by the people to intercede. G.U.N. answer to the Zone Leaders and the Zone Leaders answer to the people, but the idea of a governing body having singular control over what was essentially a global military didn’t appeal to those who had just come out of being Ruled By Robotnik. For several years, G.U.N. were ignored, but they have grown in popularity since the war began. Fifteen new Member-Zones have been signed up, including the Emerald Hill Zone, andthey’re even offering a 'Try-Before-You-Buy' initiative where unaffiliated Zones can call upon G.U.N. for help and they’ll temporarily come in. G.U.N. Central Command is in the Station Square Zone and their leader is Commander Steele, a mere codename to prevent assassinations. All codenames in G.U.N. are metal-themed, such as precious metals like Megatal and Gold for special operatives, sturdy ones like Iron and Steel for high rank, and low-rank admin types get such examples as Nickel.
