  • Title and short intro here.
  • Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer is a traditional Christmas song that first appeared in Happy Holidays Love, Barney.
  • There are two versions of this song, where the speech or banter is different from the other version.
  • Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a magic reindeer who leads Santa Claus's sleigh team. He has a glowing red nose, the ability to fly, and the ability to speak (though he sometimes instead communicates by holding up signs). Rudolph first appears urging Santa Claus to deliver presents to Torg's house, despite the danger of an ambush by Bun-bun. Rudolph sits on the Christmas Council as a representative of the Reindeer.
  • Johnny Marks adapted Robert Mays' story of Rudolph into the popular children's Christmas song, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". The song, which tells the story of outcast Rudolph and his glowing nose which allows Santa to see to deliver his toys on a foggy Christmas night, has been recorded by numerous artists, most famously by Gene Autry in 1949. It is frequently sung with the addition of humorous echoes and/or responses to the lines by children. An example of this would be the final line "You'll go down in history!", to which the response might be "like George Washington!"
  • The story's title character and protagonist is taunted by other reindeer because of his red nose which glows in the dark. However, it is thanks to Rudolph's glowing nose that Santa Claus is able to deliver presents on a dark Christmas Eve night on which there are no moon or stars. At the end of the story, Rudolph gains the acceptance and admiration of the other reindeer. "'Twas the day before Christmas, and all through the hills, The reindeer were playing, enjoying their spills",
  • In the original Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer special, just as the song suggests, Rudolph was born with an unusually shiny red nose. Donner was ashamed of his son's unusual trait, so he placed a fake nose on Rudolph, which later fell off. Rudolph leaves home because he feels ashamed of this. He later befriends Hermey, an elf outcast who wanted to be a dentist, and the miner Yukon Cornelius. They arrived at the Island of Misfit Toys, a place where all of the unwanted toys go. Rudolph along with Donner and Blitzen appear in the 2014 Doctor Who Christmas special Last Christmas.
  • Donner's wife gives birth to a baby fawn named Rudolph, but the two are shocked to discover that Rudolph's unusually red nose is capable of glowing. When Santa Claus visits their cave to meet the fawn and sees the glowing nose, he warns Mr. & Mrs. Donner that Rudolph won't be able to pull the sleigh if he continues to carry this trait for the rest of his life. Consequently, Donner tries to conceal Rudolph's nose with dirt.
