| - The Quarantine Zone was a region on the planet Dathomir that was quarantined by the Galactic Empire in about 1 ABY, following an outbreak of the blackwing virus. The virus killed most of the people inside the Zone and turned them into zombies. Because of the nature of the area, none is permitted to enter without the approval of the High Priestess.
- The Quarantine Zone was an area of space given to the Magog by the Commonwealth following the signing of the Treaty of Antares.

The Sentinel Wall, along with the Containment Shield, had kept much of the Flood from spreading, allowing the Sentinels to prevent their spread, but its deactivation by Thel 'Vadamee during his search for the Activation Index allowed the Flood to move freely about the ring.

- In game time: Sunday, February 6, 2355 Players: Vector, Kenoshi, Lexington, Nikopol Location: Junk Town, Shangri-La Summary: A section of the Lower City of Shangri-La has been cordoned off by city authorities, without any official notice, and Akai wants to know what is going on there. So he hires Vector, Kenoshi, and Lexington to sneak into the Quarantined Zone and investigate. There they meet up with Nikopol, and with some strange, zombie-like creatures. Killing the zombies only manages to release something worse....an alien life form having invaded their bodies. The group then finds themselves on the run from this malignant life form known as "The Wispers".

| - The Quarantine Zone is an area in the South West Corner of Dathomir that has been separated from the outside world by Imperial High Command. It was added as new content in the game with Game Update 13 and players could finally get inside with Game Update 14. On the inside of the walls, players can become infected with the mysterious Blackwing virus unless they take special medical precautions. There is a new starport for the Quarantine Zone as well as a cantina and cloning center. Once you have entered the Zone you will discover that it is crawling with the undead. A virus that had been intended as a method of creating Super Soldiers has broken free of its confinement and has infected hordes of innocents. The virus affects 99.7% of all living beings and is almost always fatal so the chances of survival are slim. There is no known antidote although there are some injections that can be administered to stop infection from occurring. Inside the Zone there are several camps that immune survivors have set up. These camps are heavily guarded and are constantly under siege by the undead. These camps can be found at: /waypoint -5915 -6645 "CAMP ALPHA"; /waypoint -6290 -7529 "CAMP BETA"; /waypoint -6815 -6454 "CAMP GAMMA"; /waypoint -7142 -6941 "CAMP DELTA"; /waypoint -7463 -7392 "CAMP EPSILON"; At each camp there are auxiliary missions to attempt and several collections to activate. The key location inside the Quarantine Zone is the Research and Prison Facility (/way -7426 -7335). There is a two story building and an underground bunker that feature the highest level NPCs including an Undead Rancor.

It is possible that the metro police managed to eveacuate a majority of the people near the quarantine zone but most of Fairport continued on with its daily activities which lead to the majority of the city to be killed by the blast.

The area was guarded and patrolled by various Forerunner constructs, ranging from the small but necessary Constructors, to the standard Sentinels and Sentinel Majors, to the titanic Enforcers. The Covenant found a four way fight against the Flood, Sentinels, and UNSC forces, but after the Arbiter Thel 'Vadamee lowered the shield, more and more Flood had begun to spread. The Quarantine Zone was apparently kept starved of all life by the Sentinels. The only signs of past life, besides the Flood, were dead trees. It was constantly snowing in the Quarantine Zone. It seems that the Sentinels or some other systems had caused this climate change in order to prevent life from growing and/or existing in this area, therefore denying the Flood of any possible sources of energy. It is unlikely that the change in climate was enacted by 2401 Penitent Tangent as the Monitor had not sent the requested "security detail" after "2512332 hours, 14 minutes, 6 seconds" (or approximately 287 years) since the initial request for one. Likewise, the presence of trees at all indicates that it was not always such a cold climate, and is instead a response to the Flood outbreak. Since vehicles had been introduced to the area, the Flood showed the ability to operate these machines and use them against the Sentinels and the Covenant. Most of the vehicles here were Ghosts, Warthogs, a few Wraiths and a few Scorpion Tanks, all brought into the area by the Covenant and UNSC during their advances towards the Library. After acquiring access to heavy military vehicles, the Flood had become far more mobile and much more dangerous. Since the Human incursion into the area, many of the Marines had been infected by infection forms, converted into Combat and Carrier forms, furthering the Flood life cycle and allowing them to spread quicker. They also allowed the Flood access to a more diverse array of weapons, including Battle Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, and more, furthering their capabilities in combat.
