- The Blarney Stone is one of the state regalia of the United Kingdom. It is kept in the throne room of Buckingham Palace, cemented into the ceiling. Only the monarch is permitted to touch it. The invincible power of the British Empire is said to be founded on it. It is named for Blarney Castle, a prehistoric earthwork in the exact geographical centre of Ireland, where it resided for many centuries. Irish bards were crowned on it at the annual eisteddfod, and deposed if they could not keep a straight face while reciting their rubbish. Raiders under Robin Hood carried it off to England in 1055, and unable to sell it they eventually threw it into the Thames, where the royal decorators found it.

While inquiring on the function of the Stone of J'Kah, Captain Archer wondered if being blessed by it was to give him good luck. Commander Tucker, however, corrected Archer and told him that he must be thinking of kissing the Blarney Stone, or patting the Buddha's belly. (ENT: "The Andorian Incident") When Miles O'Brien met his old captain, Benjamin Maxwell, in 2367 and told him that he learned a lot from his former commanding officer, Maxwell responded with "But you got that silver tongue by kissing the stone, right?" (TNG: "The Wounded" ) In the non-canon novelization of DS9: "Trials and Tribble-ations", Miles O'Brien claims his grandmother sold the Blarney Stone "half a dozen times".
