Hans Michael Frank (23 May 1900 – 16 October 1946) was a German lawyer who worked for the Nazi party during the 1920s and 1930s. After Hitler's ascension to power in 1933, Frank became Nazi Germany's chief jurist and Governor-General of occupied Poland's 'General Government' territory. During his tenure (1939–1945), he instituted a reign of terror against the civilian population, systematic plunder and brutal economic exploitation and became directly involved in the mass murder of Polish citizens of both Jewish and non-Jewish background. At the Nuremberg trials, he was found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity and was executed.

A veteran of World War I, Frank was an early member of the Nazi Party. When he became a lawyer in the 1920s, he acted as legal counsel to the Party and to Adolf Hitler specifically. He was elected to the Reichstag in 1930, and became essentially Germany's chief jurist with Hitler's appointment as Chancellor in 1933. He was also a Minister Without Portfolio in Hitler's cabinet.

W 1939 r. wpadł do Polski na przedłużone wakacje. W Krakowie wynajął droższy od Sheratona hotel Wawel. W sumie niczym się nie zajmował, tylko balował. Udało mu się za to wprowadzić nowe plany zagospodarowania terenu, zmiana polskiej polityki dostawczo-transportowej na kolejowo-gazową, genialny plan walki z bezrobociem i bezdomnością. Nie dotrwał do końca planowanych wakacji (1945), wcześniej dostał od komornika nakaz eksmisji z Wawelu. Zdążył zapierniczyć tylko kilka własnych autoportretów.
