It was led by Sefenlander Emperor Messink Messon against both Sarplander Great Emperor of the Stone Come Again Claimant Yemaj Onyxface, and Great Emperor of the Forest Falk VI Laochalk in the hopes of claiming Thousandtrees and the redwood forest for the Faith o' Nine. The dark march was ended with the deaths of Onyxface, and Falk, breaking up the Sarplanders and forcing Falk's son Malk V Laochalk to swear his allegiance to Messink and the Faith o' Nine. Notably, Malk would go on to lend his financial aid to the Lobott during the Lobott Coup, having grown to hate the Sefenlanders, but legitimately having converted to the Faith o' Nine.
