Former Supreme Chancellor Alcor Bac, who served as the Galactic Republic's head of state from 12,995 BBY to 12,987 BBY, was assassinated at a political rally on Coruscant in 12,978 BBY, during the Hutt War. Then-Supreme Chancellor Jamall Mohatu was also the victim of an attempted assassination. The assassination was carried out by Ahdam Bac, Alcor's son and an agent of Sector 13, who only intended to target Mohatu and was unaware his father would be at the rally. Pantoran Senator Hisako Hoshiko was elected Supreme Chancellor the next day after Mohatu was rendered incapacitated in the attack.
