Daidoji Kirasi was the yoriki of the Emerald Magistrate Shinjo Kobara. She had attempted to bring the ronin bandit Hojaro to justice, but the former Kakita was smart enough to flee every time the magistrates had tracked him down. This time Kirasi confronted Hojaro alone, challenging him to a personal duel. Hojaro accepted, relying in his experience as duelist, but fell to the Kirasi's greater technique. She was wounded by Hojaro's sword, unable to defend herself from the attack of the two bandits who had been with Hojaro. Her companion, a man in a simple black kimono and mask, pierced one of the outlaw with and arrow, and the second fled.
