National security intelligence (NSI) is NSI seeks to maintain the United States as a free republic with its laws and constitutional foundation intact and identify and neutralize threats or actions which undermine the American way of life. NSI embodies both policy intelligence and military intelligence. Since the fall of the Soviet Union and the rise of threats from terrorist groups, both policy and military intelligence have evolved to grapple with the character of new threats. The organizations responsible for NSI are collectively known as the Intelligence Community (IC).
