A Swoopula is a tougher gray version of the Swooper bat. There's not much difference between the two except Swoopula is more powerful. In the first Paper Mario, Swoopula repeatedly sucks Mario's HP until he claws it away from his body.

Swoopula is an enemy found in Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door that has only one attack: sucking two HP from Mario and co. or four in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It is located in the Crystal Palace in Paper Mario and the Palace of Shadow or the Pit of 100 Trials in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Swoopulas hang from the ceiling and Mario must get them off by using a hammer attack outside of battle or a partner attack.
