The Æther (from True-Tongue: Adaan, literally "Eternity") is a large black void of infinite spacetime that makes up most of Calthoss' Creation, surrounding what the Shine calls "the Chariot," what the Shadow calls "the Barrow," and what 10th calls "the Cycle," (i.e. Mattes' Great-Hall, the World-Wheels, and the Axle - the 8,001st Cycle). Everything within the Æther experiences time subjectively, but the Æther as a whole (i.e. 10th) does not. The subjective experience of time within the Æther is strange (i.e. time passess differently on this Earth as opposed to Ymetros). • The Æther (from True-Tongue: Adaan, literally "Eternity") is a large black void of infinite spacetime that makes up most of Calthoss' Creation, surrounding what the Shine calls "the Chariot," what the Shadow calls "the Barrow," and what 10th calls "the Cycle," (i.e. The first people to cross blinkgates aged quadrillions of years before coming out the other side because the type of time (Type B time) they experienced was not malleable to humankind's minds, nor could humans physically perceive themselves moving through it. Some types of aliens (e.g. Urklathans) can perceive time there, and others even movement. They tend not to venture into the Æther since it is usually mindbreaking. Apparently nameless gods can wholly experience Type B time without being harmed, and they move through it just as easy as it were water. Though the Æther is infinitely empty, it is also infinitely full, and can be harnessed for energy. The Æthernet uses its infinite energy to power psymulators. Its infinite nature is also what is used to power blinkgates, which use it to ferry across physical items, and people. The Shadowfinger, and Skyscar both are not-so-natural blinkgates, wyrmholes, curtains of iron blackness - the Æther - which cut through spacetime like a knife through butter.
