Battle Gear were battle suits, usually with two arms to deploy weapons, two legs for propulsion, and a head that acted as a main camera and sometimes housed a secondary weapon that acted as a rotating turret (with the head provided the rotation). Battle Gear was approximately forty feet in height, with a cockpit located in the unit's torso. There were a few exceptions; units that were much larger or slightly smaller were not unheard of, and occasionally the cockpit was located in the head.

- Bakugan Battle Gear can attach to the back of most Gundalian Invaders Bakugan, though according to the rules they can also be played with any Bakugan, such as older Bakugan. Like a Bakugan Trap, a Battle Gear is played during battle. However, rather than changing Attributes, they give a small boost to G-Power, usually between 50 and 120 Gs.
- Venom Snake, when first hearing the proposal, privately remarked to Kazuhira Miller that he was having a sense of déjà vu. Despite this, he proceeded to okay the development of Battle Gear.
- Side by Side is the franchise for a popular 1990s touge racing game series whose name changed to Battle Gear in the 2000s. It was developed by Taito and was first released on arcade cabinets before being ported to the Play Station home consoles. Battle Gear 2 is known as Tokyo Road Race in Europe.
