Qui-Gon Jinn was a Jedi Master and a member of the Jedi High Council during the Invasion of Utapau. Jinn served as the unofficial mentor to Obi-Wan Kenobi who, at the time, was the apprentice of Jedi Master Jard Dooku, a friend of Jinn’s. Jinn taught Kenobi philosophies that were different than Dooku’s, although Dooku did not say anything as he wished to spend less time with Kenobi due to their strained relationship. Kenobi later stated that he considered Jinn more of a master than Dooku.

Kenobi later stated that he considered Jinn more of a master than Dooku. It was Kenobi’s opinion that Jinn, along with fellow Jedi High Council member Silas Lasek, was one of only two members of the Council who were able to take criticism well. Jinn also taught Kenobi that there were no coincidence, but rather the Force, an energy field that bound the galaxy together, and made things happen for a reason. Kenobi held enough respect for Jinn, and therefore did not want to defy this or any other teaching the Jedi Master had given him.
