The largest concentrations of them remain on the main continent; a second smaller continent is the home of three ghosh of Korunnai, transplanted there in the last days of the Republic. The two continents are connected at two points. Both continents are very large. Though the predators' territories overlap to a degree, it is uncommon for more than three or four types of predator to be found within a certain area. Only the most intelligent, quick or durable prey animals can survive: Jakobeasts are in that category, as well as several large herbivores in the jungles and the oceans. In many cases, the predators hunt and feed on each other. Velok actually transplanted the boring Kaadu as a food source. In addition to the many types of fascinating predators found on The Pen, several unique plants can also be found, including fear moss and dart flowers. The two main sentient species on the planet, Korunnai and Amphi-hydrus, have a turbulent forty-year history. The two species distrust each other and at times have turned to violence. Nevertheless, the deadly ecosystem frequently forces them together. They have common enemies in the Derriphan and the Space Wraith. A very few Gorax have been transplanted, including one who is sensitive to the Force. Velok has taught the massive but not-especially-intelligent being some basic elements of the Core Powers. The Gorax hunt some of the larger predators. They especially enjoy Terentatek flesh.
