The Tantalus system's orbit was the location of a number of planets, including fifth planet Tantalus V. (FASA RPG module: The Federation) Charles and Morgan Lefler were briefly assigned to Tantalus by Starfleet in 2353 to conduct plasma studies, and were accompanied by their daughter, Robin. Most infamously, Tantalus offered up his son, Pelops, as sacrifice. He cut Pelops up, boiled him, and served him up in a banquet for the gods. From his story, we get the English word "tantalize".
