"Barlicki’s wife" was the name of a fictional Polish character played by a German re-enactor in the tourist village of Wawolnice. She hired "Jewish grinder" Jakub Shlayfer (played by German Veit Harlan) to fix her clock. Although he warned her prior that he would have to charge her more for putting a new gear in the clock, when the time came to pay, she'd "forgotten", and so haggled for a time until she angrly paid him and stormed out. While in character, Shlayfer made a point of finding Barlicki's wife attractive.
