- Elara is a mythological figure said to have defeated the Black Plague and seen as the founder of Mirith. Nowadays, sometimes her name stands for the Goddess of Life, but it is not clear whether they were separate entities, or whether the Goddess was the origin of Elara's power and wisdom. Inconsistencies in the mythological tradition are not unusual. According to Cecil, who edited and annotated four tomes on the historical mythology of Oberin, available at the Brigobaen Library, she is the first human refered to in the Shurilizuk, and her story can be found in book III, "Emergence from Haven".
- Elara is the name of the fictional planet that makes up the fantasy setting for the Koridian Series of novels. The name is archaic, referring to the who was the mother of the gods. It consists of various continents and islands, including Phaara, Tellana, Anaea, Atlona, and the islands that make up Morna Yael, including the mysterious and mystical Moon Isles. Elara is orbited by three moons, named Itaras, Gisalyn and Moraal after early Elaran .

It consists of various continents and islands, including Phaara, Tellana, Anaea, Atlona, and the islands that make up Morna Yael, including the mysterious and mystical Moon Isles. History reveals that the world was split into two major epochs, pre- and post-cataclysm. Major events further sub-divide pre-cataclysmic history, such as the birth of the non-human races, The Cleansing, and the rule of the Wizard Princes. Post-cataclysmic history really only has two major divisions – the Dark Age that immediately followed the Cataclysm, and the current Age of Enlightenment. Elara is orbited by three moons, named Itaras, Gisalyn and Moraal after early Elaran .

Elara's legend illustrates the beginning of our era. She had seven disciples, who found the remaining cities. Two of their names are still preserved in ancient records: Nystral, who founded Andris; and Ybarra, for Marali. In modern days, Serene was believed to be a direct descendent from Elara. It is unknown if there are any others. It is rumoured that the last days of Elara are told in an ancient book, part of the Brigobaen's catalogue.
