While they're resting, Jassad Attqua hears scratching sounds, and he and Varve assume that the rockrasps are trying to crumble the floor out from under them. Hitch realizes that the creatures are actually about to tumble the walls, and gets everyone to scramble to safety before the rotting stone comes crashing down. Just before fleeing, they see darker shapes swarm over the remains of their wagon, and scratching sounds that are replaced by the crack of sundered wood. They're pursued by crunching and scratching sounds, but manage to escape in the underground without ever laying eyes on the creatures following them.
