2006 was the 46th year of season play for the Minnesota Vikings and the 46th regular season of the National Football League. The 2006 Minnesota Vikings season began with the team trying to improve on their 9–7 record in 2005 which was the last under embattled head coach Mike Tice. It ended with the team posting a 6–10 record and Brad Childress (apparently) convincing new owner Zygi Wilf that it was a rebuilding year.
