Skipton is a market town in North Yorkshire. Located sixteen miles north-west of Bradford, it's historical growth was based on its market but also its cotton mills and connections to the major industrial cities of the north through the canal system. Today it has a population of over 14,000 and a major employer is the Skipton Building Society.
