Formerly Cingular Wireless, a United States-based cellular carrier, is, a result of the merger between AT&T (formerly SBC) and BellSouth, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of AT&T ("the new AT&T"). It is currently the largest cellular carrier in the United States, with 61 million subscribers. Cingular was rebranded as wireless from AT&T, and the Cingular name is now retired.
