| - A Phantom was a member of the Imperial Bureau of Force Investigations, otherwise known as Insight, that served a Force-sensitive operative of intelligence, espionage and assassinations, effectively functioning in whatever role was assigned to them. Phantoms were considered to have been the right hand of the Third Imperium in regard to governmental security. Very few in the galaxy were aware of the existence of Phantoms, and those that were often regarded them with fear. The Brotherhood of Sicarius once came into conflict with the Phantoms, although the outcome of the strife was unrevealed. Estra Koylak once referred to them as a 'new breed' of Force warriors, and Xaga Terron likewise regarded them as highly skilled and dangerous individuals. All residents of the Third Imperium who were Force-sensitive were automatically and secretly conscripted into Insight, where they were mentally reconditioned and trained into Phantoms, which served as the resource pool from which Phantoms were selected. Prospects that were considered too weak to become Phantoms were usually removed from Phantom training and instead served as a resource pool for Force experimentalists and scientists. Although subordinate to the command branch of Insight, the Phantoms themselves were headed by one of their own holding the position of Commandant. During the time of the Extant War and the Siege of the Sky Vault, the Phantom commandant was an ex-Mandalorian by the name of Ethon Vevut.
